Calahorra Castle - only 30 minutes away - is one of the most important works of the first Spanish Renaissance.  Constructed on the remains of a preceding fortification of the Medieval period dating from the beginning of the 16th century, probably between 1509 - 1512.  Two architects mainly participated in its construction, the Castilian Lorenzo Vazquez and the Italian Michelle Carlone.

Opening times are Wednesdays only:- 10:00 - 13:00 and 16:00 - 18:00

Mini Hollywood - Approx one and half hours drive, this theme park is set in the Tabernas desert - the only desert in Europe. Setting of the trilogy of 'Dollars' movies starring Clint Eastwood, a real must see for film buffs or 'boys' of all ages!  There is also a mini zoo (quite bizarre) and an outdoor pool surrounded by loungers (one for the girls).  Twice daily staged gunfights and also cabaret in the Saloon, or pay a visit to the on site costume shop where you can dress up as your favourite character and have a souvenir snap shot taken....

Not the cheapest I know, but my advice is to take your own picnic and make a full day of it.  Food and drink is available on site but as usual it can be expensive.
